Abu Makadi – On the northern shores of Makadi Bay, you will find the Abu Makadi coastal reef. The reef is well sheltered, meaning you have a comfortable environment from which to dive. The Plateau, which lies around 7 metres, mainly consists of large coral outcrops. While diving here, you can see some traditional reef fish, including scorpionfish, stonefish, angelfish and, most impressively, dolphins.

Gota Abu Makadi – This is the closest dive site to Makadi Bay you will get the chance to visit and arguably one of the best and most diverse! This reef has a beautiful, colourful coral garden with surrounding sand areas that help keep orientation. You can dive between depths of 6-30m. While diving here, you will likely see fish in big schools, such as barracuda, batfish, and, if you’re lucky, eagle rays.

Ras Disha—Just a short 20-minute boat journey from Makadi Bay, you will find Ras Disha. This reef is set near Abu Hashish in the northerly part of Makadi Bay. It starts at a plateau of 6-13m and then turns into a drop-off toward the north of 20-40m. Ras Disha is well protected against stormy seas. You can see glassfish and their predators: stonefish, trevally, lionfish, and grouper, along with stingrays, octopuses, turtles, and more.

Sharm El Arab – Another popular reef from Makadi Bay is Sharm El Arab, mainly due to the short distance, which takes just 15 minutes to travel by boat. Once you get there, the boat will be fixed inside the big lagoon. When you submerge into the water, you will see what all the fuss is about a stunning wall overgrown with multicoloured coral. On your dive, you will likely see turtles, barracuda, snails, shortnose doctorfish and hopefully, dolphins.
